Passing Gas

I've mentioned before that my husband is working on his Master's degree in Nurse Anesthesia. He has affectionately referred to his job of putting people to sleep as "passing gas" for a living.

Yes, it's crude, I know.

So, of course, when my husband came home this afternoon, my oldest daughter ran to him and asked "Daddy, were you passing gas today?"

I'm so proud of the manners she is learning!

Weekend Reflection

I thank the Lord for a blessed week!
  • Monday--I stayed home with my girls and prepared a couple of boxes to send to soldiers that have been deployed. I don't know these soldiers personally. I have a friend whose husband is deployed and she mentioned that there are many soldiers that don't receive letters/packages from people very often. So, my family got some names and have started to send packages to them to tell them how much we appreciate what they are doing for us. I got a letter from one of the soldiers. It ends up that he lives pretty close to us and said that our package meant very much to him. That just made my day when I read that!
  • Tuesday--Work day! My husband took his final and did very well! He ended up with an "A" in his class overall! I am very proud of him.
  • Wednesday--Work day! I had to attend a staff meeting at lunch that we have once a month.
  • Thursday--Work day! A few colleagues and I went to eat at a local "home cooking" type of restaurant in the town where I work. It was wonderful. I ordered a vegetable plate of green beans, baked beans, mashed potatoes with gravy and corn casserole. It also came with a yeast roll and tea! It was wonderful! I had to bring some of it home! I also sent the packages to the soldiers today! My mother-in-law came home with me for the weekend because we are having our nephew's birthday party this weekend. He is turning 15.
  • Friday-I spent the day with my girls, husband and mother-in-law. We went to eat at Zaxby's and went shopping for our nephew's birthday gift (fishing rod and reel). My sister-in-law and her children came to spend a couple of nights.
  • Saturday--We had the birthday party today. We grilled hamburgers, hot dogs and chicken.

Things I'm Thankful for This Week:

1. I'm thankful I was able to get the packages to the soldiers sent off. I want so much to be a blessing to them since they are doing so much for my family and our country.

2. I'm thankful that my husband did so well on his final and ended up with an "A" for his final grade in his class.

3. I'm thankful that we had a good birthday party for my nephew. He is a special young man and deserves to have a wonderful birthday!

I hope everyone had a great week! For more Weekend Reflections, visit Judi at Mommy of Two .

A Purse Tag for JennaG

JennaG tagged me to show my purse. OK, here it is. There's a little story that goes with this purse. I was shopping at New York and Co. one day and they were having a BOGO 1/2 sale. I bought a shirt and thought I would get this purse half off (regular $30). When I got up to the counter, it rang up $5.24. The lady said, "I don't know why this is on sale. It's not suppose to be." To which I said, "Hold on, I'm going to get another one." I gave it to Coach J as a happy. I wish I had thought about it. I should have gotten more for some of my blogging friends as well. Oh well! Next time...I promise!!!

I did like some of the other girls and laid out what was in my purse. I have my wallet, my photo album, my calendar, lotion, chapstick, my badge and beeper for work, anti-bacterial gel, my daughter's rubber bands, a pen, my clips and my headband!!

A Prize From Grandpa & Grandma

There's nothing better than getting a prize in the mail from grandparents. Especially when it includes: M&M's, Skittles, stickers & balloons!

Here is my oldest calling Grandma & Grandpa to tell them "Thank You"! Of course, she had to tell Grandpa that she was putting stickers on her "booty"! (I prefer "bottom" but my husband taught her "booty"--Oh well!) ;)

Here she is stuffing M&M's in her mouth as fast as I will let her!

Report On Our Date Night

My husband & I had such a wonderful time on our date Saturday night!! We went to eat at a local Italian restaurant that we had not tried before. I ordered Spinach Fetticine Alfredo with Chicken--it was delicious! My husband ordered Stuffed Shells Florentine and loved it! We will definetly be going back there!! We went to see a movie afterwards and just really enjoyed spending time together. We stayed out later than we have in probably a year! We also went to Books-A-Million to browse around.

We really need to work on doing the date thing more often! We tend to loose ourselves in being "Daddy" and "Mommy" that we forget how much fun we have being "Husband & Wife" and "Best Friends"! I'm blessed to have such a great husband!

A Recipe for You!

My all time favorite dessert is Caramel Pie! It is one of the easiest to make as well!

Caramel Pie

1 can sweetened condensed milk
1 graham cracker crust
1 container cool whip

Remove label from can of sweetened condensed milk. Place can in a pot of water. Make sure the water is completely covering the can of sweetened condensed milk. Bring water to a boil. Boil can of milk for 3 hours. (Yes, you boil the actual can) :) Make sure it remains completely covered with water the entire time. After 3 hours, remove can and let set on counter to cool. After the can has cooled, pour contents into bowl and stir to remove lumps. Pour into graham cracker crust and place in refrigerator until set. Spread cool whip on top and serve.

Weekend Reflection

The Lord blessed me with a good week.
  • Monday--I stayed home with my girls that morning while my husband went to clinicals. That afternoon, we went shopping at Sam's. I LOVE shopping there (I'm sure I've mentioned that many times before):)
  • Tuesday--Work day! The girls and I stayed at my mother-in-law's house. I've found that it helps me to avoid the drive home and back to work one time during the week.
  • Wednesday--Work day! Once a month, we have birthday lunch at work. The employees that have birthdays that month get to pick the menu. This time it was chili dogs! It was a fun lunch.
  • Thursday--Work day! On my lunch break, I went and bought a Mother's Day present for my mom. I like to shop early!
  • Friday--I love Fridays because I know I get to spend time at home with my family for a few days. After my husband came home, he took my oldest outside with him to do yard work and I fixed our supper--"breakfast". I love to have breakfast for supper. We had pancakes, eggs and turkey bacon.
  • Saturday--Today, we are hanging out at home. Tonight, my husband is taking me to dinner and a movie! I'm so excited!!

Things I'm Thankful For This Week:

1. I'm thankful that I've finished all my shopping for Mother's Day and am happy with what I picked out for my mom and my mother-in-law!

2. I'm thankful that, Friday night, my husband got to come home, spend some time working outside and playing with the girls. Yard work is relaxing to him. He very rarely gets to do anything relaxing since he has begun graduate school. He finishes in December and we are definetly looking forward to that!

3. I'm thankful that my husband and I are going to get to spend some time alone tonight. We're going to have a quiet dinner together and go see a movie. We both really need it! It will be refreshing for us!

For more Weekend Reflections, visit Judi at Mommy of Two .

Randomized by JennaG

I took JennaG up on being randomized.

1. If you were to find out you were having boy/girl twins, what would you name them? (After you picked yourself up off the floor, that is!)

Well, we have two girls but we had a boy name picked out just in case. We were going to name a boy Bradley. I think we would like to have cute names starting with the same letter. We would probably name the girl Brooke.

2. If money were no object, what kind of car would you drive?

I just really want a car that will fit my whole family and be comfortable for me to drive. I would probably still just drive a mini-van (maybe with all the trim though) :)

3. The President called and he is coming to dinner, what will you cook for him?

Well, we are definetly not fancy people nor do we cook anything fancy. We would probably keep it comfortable and grill steaks. You always have nice fellowship time while grilling. We would do like we always do with our friends and set up some chairs on the back porch to sit and talk while grilling.

4. If you could eradicate one disease from this world, what would it be and why?

Just one? I'm gonna cheat on this one. I can't pick just one because my family has been affected by more than one. I would have to pick 3: diabetes, heart disease and cancer. My family has or has the strong possibility of being affected by all of these.

5. Let's say you are writing a fiction book--what is the title and what is it about?

This is the most difficult for me, believe it or not. I am so not creative. I love reading mystery/thriller (Christian, of course) books like ones written by Ted Dekker. I would love to write something captivating like that but cannot even think of what I would write. (I'm so boring) ;0)

Now, if anyone wants to be randomized, let me know. I will come up with questions to ask you! It's a great way to get to know our blogger friends!

Jennisa's Designs

I wanted to introduce everyone to Jennisa . I've reading her blog for a little while now and she's started trying her hand at designs for blogs. She made this really cute one for me. Go check out her designs at Jennisa's Attempt at Design .

Yay!! I'm Going on a Date!!

If you can imagine a really ecstatic, overjoyed mommy, then you are picturing it right! My sweet husband has set it up for his sister to come to our house tomorrow so that he and I can go out to dinner and a movie!! The excitement may seem a little overboard to you, but it's been quite a while since we had any type of date. We have "family dates" often when we go out as a family, but time alone....OH MY GOODNESS!

A Neat Baby "Thing"

I may be so behind on everything but my sister-in-law just got my 6 month old daughter one of these "things" and she just loves it. As you can tell, I don't even know what it's called. I tried to find it on Walmart's website to post a picture of it but didn't know what to call it to search for it. Does anyone else know? Nonetheless, I've only tried it with orange slices but my daughter will suck all the juice out of it until it looks like a piece of dehydrated fruit! You put a piece of fruit, etc. in the netting and close it up so the baby is only able to get the juice and not the piece of food itself. She gets excited just seeing me fix it for her!

Thought I would post it for parents of young children who aren't on regular food but would enjoy the taste of some frest fruit, etc.

Weekend Reflection

This was a good but busy week. It just went by way too fast!
  • Monday--I spent the day at home with my girls cleaning the house for my parents coming Wednesday night. Although cleaning is not my favorite thing to do, I felt very productive when I finished.
  • Tuesday--Work day! I was pretty tired today so I decided to spend the night at my mother-in-law's house. My sweet sister-in-law spent the night as well and took night duty with my 6 month old. Other than sleeping with my 2 year old (who flip-flops all night long), I had a restful night and did not have to get up as early to go to work. That was a nice change!
  • Wednesday--Another work day! I was excited today waiting on my parents to come. Tonight was a late night. My parents didn't get to my house until almost 11:00 pm. My two year old wouldn't go to sleep due to anticipation. I can't help but build up their coming to her but this is usually what happens--she stays up until they get to our house. I usually put her to bed but she never goes to sleep and I end up just going to get her. Oh well, anticipation is part of the fun!!:)
  • Thursday--I went to work while my parents stayed home with my girls! It's good for them to have their own time with them without my husband and I around. This is the day my husband left to go to a conference in Nashville.
  • Friday--My girls & I drove to our hometown today with my parents so they could open a bank account before they move. While we were there, we looked at a lot my parents are interested in building a house on. While over there, we went to eat at one of our favorite places to eat, a local Mom & Pop place. I got my favorite meal there--Smoked Chicken platter with baked beans and garlic bread!!
  • Saturday--We drove back over to our hometown for my niece's 13th birthday party. It was a lot of fun! While there, we went back to the lot for my parents to look at again! I cannot wait until they move here! I look forward to being closer to them and seeing them more often.

What I'm Thankful for This Week:

1. I'm thankful that my parents came! It always feels nice when family is together!

2. I'm thankful my niece had a great birthday party!13 is an important age. My husband & I want to be around to see her grow up and encourage her to be the person God plans on her to be!

3. I'm thankful my husband enjoyed his trip but I'm even more thankful that he's coming home! I have definetly missed him!

Daddy & Daughter

I have to share this because it is just so sweet! My husband has been doing this for a while and my daughter has it memorized. Nonetheless, he tells her this every night. He will say: "Look at Daddy's eyes. Daddy's got to talk to you. You're pretty, smart, beautiful and I love you lots."

Then he will ask her:

Daddy: "What does God have for you?"
Daughter: "God has a plan for me."
Daddy: "A plan to do what...?"
Daughter:"To prosper me."
Daddy:"That's right. A plan to prosper you for what...?"
Daughter:"For good and not evil."

Now, if you can imagine him saying this and her replying in her very sweet & innocent 2 year old voice, you can picture how sweet it is. I just beam when I hear him speaking God's Word over her and building her confidence and self-esteem!

A Great Deal

Hello to everyone! I haven't been home for a couple of days to blog and I've missed reading everyone's posts! I had become very tired and decided, instead of driving an hour back home last night, that I would spend the night at my mother-in-law's house. Thank goodness my sister-in-law decided to spend the night also and take "night duty" with my 6 month old (yes, she still wakes up to eat). Other than sleeping with my oldest daughter (who sleeps like a tumbleweed), I had a very good night's rest and did not have to get up as early as normal! I needed that!I wanted to show you my new "toy". If you're like me and cannot afford an extremely expensive camera but want to catch all those precious moments with good pictures, you might be interested in this. My camera recently broke. It had been very faithful, but truthfully, we just wore the thing completely out. So, I started looking on Kodak's website and found that I could buy a refurbished camera. They sell cameras that have been used for only demonstration purposes or ones that have been returned within the 30 day money back guarantee time. I bought a $400-500 camera for only $200. I get the same warranty as a new camera as well as the 30 day money back guarantee. It does not have a scratch on it and looks brand new. You can read more information here . We bought the P850. We have loved it! Oh well, this may not interest you at all, but thought I would share just in case someone is like me and would like a high-end camera for less! I really think I should get a discount since I'm advertising for them, huh?:)

As to your questions, I'm not so sure about any of them. I can see it a little in all three--Carrie, Corrie, and Annie. I do know that I think the Monfee girl would be a very good blogger because she writes very funny emails. She is way too private for that though. And, yes , folks, we are deep! Very deep, indeed! Easter Pictures

We had a great Easter weekend! Our oldest daughter had a fun time hunting Easter eggs and like the ones with "candies" in them the best! She has a sweet tooth like her mother--what can I say?:) We had a wonderful church service and then enjoyed the afternoon with our family! Here are a few pictures I wanted to share! I hope everyone else had a blessed Easter weekend!

Weekend Reflection

We've had a really good week! My husband started a new rotation in school this month. He's in his cardiovascular rotation so he's been real busy. We've still enjoyed time together and pretty weather.

  • Monday--The girls and I stayed home while hubs went to start his new clinical rotation. This one should be pretty challenging but he always likes a challenge.

  • Tuesday--This is the day my car wouldn't start. You can read about it here . While we were home, the girls and I went for a walk around the neighborhood since the weather was so beautiful. I posted a couple pictures in this post including one of my oldest strolling her baby doll! It was adorable! I had to take my video camera and capture the moment! While we had a great time, I missed my hair appointment and cannot get another appointment for another month! I'm just gonna have to pray for the Lord to tame the wild, naturally curly hair!;)

  • Wednesday--Work day! I took the girls to my mother-in-law's house where she and my sister-in-law keep them for us! We are so blessed to have family that can keep our girls for us!

  • Thursday--Work day yet again!

  • Friday--After my husband got home from work, we took the girls to have their pictures made. We didn't have the best of luck this time. The time I arranged was not the best so both girls were sleepy. That's what I get for waiting until the last minute to make a picture appointment. You can see some of the pictures on my sidebar . While we were out, we decided to eat at Chick-Fil-A. Our oldest daughter loves their chicken "samich" (translation: sandwich).

  • Saturday--Today we are headed to a friends camphouse. They are having a church get-together on a farm to eat and have an Easter egg hunt. I am making Paula Deen's Not Yo Mama's Banana Pudding to take. If you've never tried it, YOU NEED TO. You can see the recipe here .

  • Sunday--We are planning on going back to our home church for Easter Sunday! We will eat with my husband's family at my mother-in-law's house and then have an Easter egg hunt.

Another Great Give-Away!!

5 Minutes for Mom is hosting another give-away. This time, it is a Presto printer! Go check it out and sign up!!

Thank You JennaG

I want to thank JennaG for blessing me with this award. I am so new to blogging and I am so amazed at what some of my new blog friends can write!! They have such testimony and ministry! I often find myself relating to their struggles, praying for them during the day and feeding on their Biblical insights.

I know that I am suppose to nominate 5 people for this award. However, I am so new to the blogging world that everyone that I blog with has been nominated. This will have to be an ongoing process for me.

I will nominate one person for right now-- JenMom at Lots of Scotts. She & I have never met in the blog world but I do read her blog often. She has a great testimony as she experienced near death during the delivery of her triplets (who are adorable)! She writes a lot about her children. I have small children and so am interested in all that she has to say!

More nominations to come!!

Family Miracle

I wanted to share with you what God has done for our family! We say God has performed a miracle for us. It's not a miracle like you are thinking, but God has worked what we thought was unimaginable. My IRL friends have already heard this, but they can amuse me again!:)

A year after I got married, God decided to move my parents to Baton Rouge, LA. This is about 6 hours away from where my husband & I are living. I am an only child so this was hard for our family! We were thankful that God had provided my dad with a job but hated to be so far away from each other.

This became worse on us when my husband & I found out I was pregnant with my oldest daughter. My parents were happy but were disappointed because they were going to be so far away from their grandchildren. We had always prayed that God would move them closer, but this is when we REALLY started praying and EXPECTING God to do something. We began relying on a scripture in Ephesians.

"Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand." Ephesians 6:13

We knew that we were doing all we could do by praying and believing. We knew that God wanted us to just STAND and WAIT.

The job that God gave my dad in LA was not one that he enjoyed. He has sent resumes to every company he could find that was closer to home and within his field. What we didn't know was that the job that my dad was miserable in was preparing him for what was coming! About a month ago, a man called my dad about a job that he NEVER applied for. This man just happened to look on a web site and see that my dad belonged to a certain committee and thought he would call him.

My dad took the new job and is now able to work out of his home and live anywhere he wants. Needless to say, he and my mom have put their house up for sale and are moving by us!!!!! We are so thrilled and feel so blessed! We never thought that it would take 8 years of consistent praying but God heard our prayers that whole time and kept telling us to STAND, WAIT and BE AMAZED!

As I'm writing this, I'm thinking of Annie and her family and how they are forming a nightly prayer chain on Izzy's behalf! Annie, know that God hears your prayers! Your prayers and faith are all you can offer! After that, you have to stand and wait to see what GREAT things God is going to do!! We are all praying with you!

I Know CoachJ and JennaG

Nan at Life Is Like A Lunchbox asked who we know (or want to know) in the bloggy world. I am very pleased and blessed to be real life friends with CoachJ and JennaG . The top picture is (from the left) JennaG , me (ENORMOUSLY pregnant with my oldest daughter--I look like a big zebra in this picture:) and CoachJ . The next picture is from my church shower. Both CoachJ (2nd from the left) and JennaG (3rd from the left) were hostesses at my shower!
By the way, I have an embarrassing picture of CoachJ if JennaG is really interested! ;)

Strolling Along

While home today, my oldest wanted to stroll her baby doll. She said she wanted to go for "the walk" (Translation: I want to go for a walk). Here is also a picture of my youngest just enjoying the ride.
